Wöbbelin was my first encounter with the idea of combining a Nazi-built museum for a Napoleonic poet war hero and a graveyard for concentration camp victims.
Concentration camp archeology: a wholesome activity for the Bundeswehr. At Flossenbürg I was struck with the attention given to the camp greeting the American liberators, and here too was camp suffering and liberation mentioned as one.
